NSFWF: Shoot to Kill
It’s NOT SAFE FOR WORK FRIDAY! My favorite holiday (okay, okay, maybe after Free Ice Cream Day, amirite?) This week’s illustration is hand-inked with the color added in Photoshop. Girls with ray guns? Can’t fail. Tentacles would be a close second. In other news, you, dear reader, are beautiful and awesome. Thanks for keeping it [...]
Not Safe for Work Friday: Repose
It’s Friday! Fuck yeah! And you know what that means. (Or you don’t, in which case, you should.) Here’s this week’s Not Safe for Work Friday! Playing around with the traditional vs. Photoshop technique – I almost painted this one in gouache, but I was really feeling the texture of the watercolor paper and the [...]
NSFWF: Ties & Tattoos
This week, we’re up to something different, over here at the LJHQ: DUDES! (I know, I know. But I need to practice, yo.) As of late, perhaps due to a growing frustration with the current trends in shapeless women’s clothing, I’ve had a serious affinity for menswear and really beautifully tailored looks. Specifically, with a [...]
NSFW Friday: Burning Man
Hey! This weekend I’ve got another edition of Not Safe For Work Friday, for you! It’s been awhile! I missed you! I’m using too many exclamation points! This week is inspired by the skimpy style of your average Burning Man attendee. Hot shorts and pasties are about the only say to stay cool under the [...]
NSFW Friday #3: Beach Edition
It’s that time again: NOT SAFE FOR WORK FRIDAY! Summer heat’s got us all down, or at least here in the Concrete Jungle (ugh). I’ve been dreaming of getting out and away to the coast. Or at least to Coney Island. So, I’m celebrating this week’s NSFW Friday with a healthy dose of sun, sand, [...]
NSFW Friday!
Due to popular demand on Facebook, I’m declaring today Not Safe For Work Friday! Hooray! This may or may not become a weekly thing, depending on my desire to draw risque artwork. Oh! Who am I kidding? I am always drawing inappropriate things. Click on the image to see the NSFW version! I’ve been working [...]
Like a Lion
Here in NYC, we woke up to a dusting of snow on the ground, only days after a blissfully sunny, 75° Friday. I prefer the sun, but the snow is a lot easier to handle knowing it will be gone soon. Experimenting Photoshop & Pencils again, with a restrained, Spring-y palette. I was surprised at [...]
Spring Fashion – Jean Paul Gaultier
I have a thing for stripes, you see. So, here’s another experiment in colored pencils, inspired by the fantastique Jean Paul Gaultier and his spring presentation. Never heard of him? He was the mastermind behind the costumes in The Fifth Element! Check out the collection here: Jean Paul Gaultier, S/S 2011
Spring Fashion – Christian Dior
I’m tempted to draw just about every look in this collection. Dior’s deliciously tropical (ooh, do we see a reoccurring theme, here?) Spring line is reminiscent of 50′s-era pinup girls in a technicolor South Pacific dream. I love the flouncy skirts and GIANT cat-eye sunglasses. The line avoids looking costume-y, and manages to seem fresh [...]
